Throughout the year, The Public holds a host of special events. From our annual Shakespeare in the Park Gala to benefit performances in our Downtown season, take a look below to view our upcoming events!

Downtown Partner Evenings 
Partner Evenings include a performance as well as a pre or post show cocktail reception with members of the cast and creative team. Partner Evenings are invitation only.

 

Annual Young Partner Celebration
An annual, exclusive event for the Young Partners of the Public Theater. Theme varies each year.  

 

Dorothy Strelsin Foundation Backstage Dinners 
Hosted by Public Theater staff with special appearances by guest artists, these exclusive pre-show dinners in the backstage dining area of Central Park’s Delacorte Theater are a highlight of the summer for our Partners.    

 

Technical Rehearsals 
Led by Public Theater production staffs, these rehearsals are a unique opportunity to watch our directors, design teams, and casts at work, providing valuable insight into how the performance and designs elements of our shows are integrated.  Technical Rehearsals are invitation only.

Opening Nights, both at our downtown home at Astor Place and uptown at Shakespeare in the Park, are exclusive post-show parties celebrating the opening of each show with the cast and creative team. Openings are by invitation only.

JOSEPHINE & I BENEFIT PERFORMANCE

Thursday, March 12th at 6:30pm (doors open at 5:30pm)
Joe's Pub at The Public Theater

 

Join us for a one-night-only benefit performance to benefit The Public Theater!  Tickets are available for $250 and will consist of an intimate dinner and cocktails in Joe's Pub during the performance of Josephine & I, followed by an exclusive Q&A session with Cush Jumbo and Phyllida Lloyd.

GROUNDED: SPECIAL EVENTS

 

Join us for one of our exclusive events around this thrilling production starring Academy Award-winner Anne Hathaway, directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Julie Taymour. 

 

Benefit: Tuesday, April 14

$350 – Enjoy a pre-show reception in the Anspacher Galleries, the performance of Grounded, and a post-show Q&A session with Anne Hathaway and Julie Taymor. Proceeds to benefit The Public Theater.


Meet and Greet: April 15, 16, 29, & 30
$1,000 – Premium seating in the Anspacher Theater for Grounded, and then meet Anne Hathaway after the performance for a photo and autograph. Limited to just six guests.

Join us for our Young Partner Winter Bash, a benefit party in The Public's beautiful LuEsther Hall featuring a performance by Bridget Everett, named “the most exciting performer in New York City" by the Village Voice!

9:30pm  Dance the night away!

Proceeds from the Gala each year help to support The Public's mission of providing a home for artists who give voice to the pressing issues of our time, provide access to thousands of New Yorkers with free and low-priced tickets to Shakespeare in the Park and other groundbreaking works, and strengthen the vital relationship between our artists and audience.


Previous Galas include: a celebration of Marvin Hamlisch and the creation of A Chorus Line (2014), a reading of Romeo and Juliet starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline (2012), and a performance of The Pirates of Penzance starting Kevin Kline (2013).
