Throughout the year, The Public holds a host of special events. From our annual Shakespeare in the Park Gala to benefit performances in our Downtown season, take a look below to view our upcoming events!

Downtown Partner Evenings
Partner Evenings include a performance as well as a pre or post show cocktail reception with members of the cast and creative team. Partner Evenings are invitation only.

Annual Young Partner Celebration
An annual, exclusive event for the Young Partners of the Public Theater. Theme varies each year.

Dorothy Strelsin Foundation Backstage Dinners
Hosted by Public Theater staff with special appearances by guest artists, these exclusive pre-show dinners in the backstage dining area of Central Park’s Delacorte Theater are a highlight of the summer for our Partners.

Technical Rehearsals
Led by Public Theater production staffs, these rehearsals are a unique opportunity to watch our directors, design teams, and casts at work, providing valuable insight into how the performance and designs elements of our shows are integrated.  Technical Rehearsals are invitation only.

Opening Nights, both at our downtown home at Astor Place and uptown at Shakespeare in the Park, are exclusive post-show parties celebrating the opening of each show with the cast and creative team. Openings are by invitation only.

To support the work on our stages, we hold benefit performances of select shows throughout the season. Dates are announced throughout the year. All proceeds from benefits support The Public's year round activity.

April 7, 2016

Join us on April 7th for a benefit performance of Dry Powder, followed by an exclusive dinner in The Library with the cast and creative team! Click here for tickets.

Proceeds from the Gala each year help to support The Public's mission of providing a home for artists who give voice to the pressing issues of our time, provide access to thousands of New Yorkers with free and low-priced tickets to Shakespeare in the Park and other groundbreaking works, and strengthen the vital relationship between our artists and audience.

Previous Galas include: a celebration of Marvin Hamlisch and the creation of A Chorus Line (2014), a reading of Romeo and Juliet starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline (2012), and a performance of The Pirates of Penzance starting Kevin Kline (2013).
