Make a Year-End Gift to The Public Theater
After 55 years, The Public Theater remains the epicenter of New York City's theatrical life. 2009 was an extraordinary year for us and could not have been possible without YOU:
Each season, The Public Theater must raise 70% of its operating costs. This year, like many non-profit insitutions, we have not been immune to the downturn in the economy.
However, we have an exciting new opportunity. Each new gift we receive this holiday season will be matched 100% by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. A gift of even $50 goes a long way to ensuring the future of our low-cost ticketing initiatives, educational outreach, and most notably, world-class productions of FREE Shakespeare in Central Park.
Please help us meet our challenge goal of $150,000 for this year by clicking here to make a 100% tax-deductable donation.
We look forward to seeing you at the theater!
- Thousands of theatergoers from all over the world enjoyed our luminous productions of Twelfth Night and The Bacchae FREE OF CHARGE
- The Good Negro by Tracey Scott Wilson; Why Torture Is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them by Christopher Durang; Idiot Savant by Richard Foreman and The Brother/Sister Plays by Tarell Alvin McCraney have joined the ranks of innovative new plays originated by The Public Theater
- We welcomed Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks as Master Writer Chair
- We expanded our education programs to reach twice as many students
