Shakespeare Programs for Teens

FOR ALL TEENS:

Shakespeare Spring Break

ONE WEEK: March 29 - April 2

Shakespeare Spring Break is a 5-day intensive theater lab which explores in depth the two Shakespearean masterpieces which will make up the 2010 season of the Public’s “Shakespeare in the Park”: THE MERCHANT OF VENICE and THE WINTER’S TALE.

FOR NEW YORK CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL CHILDREN, AGES 13-18:

Shakespeare Lab Jr.
No prior experience with Shakespeare or theater necessary!

WEEKONE: July 5-9

A Midsummer Day's Camp
Some prior experience in or exposure to Shakespeare is helpful; an interest in a career in the professional theater, too.

August 2 - 14

A Midsummer Day’s Camp is The Public Theater’s summer program for young actors. Designed by arts in education specialists from The Harvard Graduate School of Education and throughout the field, A Midsummer Day’s Camp is a conservatory-style acting program developed for teens. It focuses on the challenges, rigors, and joys of performing Shakespeare. The intensive curriculum combines work on acting, voice, movement, games, text analysis, clown, and stage combat.
