The Taub Box Office at The Public Theater
Box Office Hours
The Taub Box Office serves all of our venues at The Public Theater and thus hours vary greatly so we suggest reading the guidelines below before your visit our performance calendar and navigate to the date you wish to visit the Box Office to be certain of our hours.
Dates with Evening Performances Only: 2:00PM through 30 minutes after our final curtain of the evening
Dates with Matinee and Evening Performances: 1 hour prior to our first curtain through 30 minutes after our final curtain of the evening
Dates without a Performance Scheduled: 2:00PM through 6:00PM
To order tickets by phone, become a Partner or a Member, or for general information please call Audience Services at 212.967.7555 Monday through Saturday between the hours of 11:00AM and 7:00PM, or Sunday from 12 noon to 6:00PM.
American Express is the official card of The Public Theater.
Plays, titles, actors, directors, programs, venues, and performance dates and times are subject to change.
Service fees for both The Public Theater and Joe's Pub:
$6 per ticket for tickets over $25
$3 per ticket for tickets $25 and under
Service fees are waived for Members and Partners of the Public Theater or when you buy in person at the Taub Box Office.
Facility fees for both The Public Theater and Joe's Pub:
Facility fees help The Public Theater maintain our historic home at 425 Lafayette as well as The Delacorte Theater in Central Park.
$2 per ticket for tickets over $25
$1.50 per ticket for tickets $25 and under
Facility fees are waived for Members and Partners of The Public Theater.
Mail order fee for both The Public Theater and Joe's Pub:
$3 per order for mailing tickets
Mail order fee are waived for Members and Partners of The Public Theater.
There is a $5 per ticket exchange fee. Fee waived for Public Theater Members and Partners.
Tickets may only be exchanged for another performance of the same production.
Exchanges are subject to availability.
Exchanges cannot be made on lost tickets.
Call or visit us at least 48 hours before the original performance date.
Can I exchange my tickets for a donation?
If you are unable to attend a performance at The Public Theater, you may return your ticket and receive a tax-deductible contribution equal to the value of the ticket you purchased. Donation requests must be received by 12pm for matinee performances at 6pm for evening performances.
If you are unable to attend a performance at Joe’s Pub, you may return your ticket for resale to another patron, but we are unable to offer a tax-deductible contribution or refund in exchange for your ticket.
TodayTix $20 Ticket Mobile Rush
Continuing our partnership with TodayTix to make theater more accessible for everyone, $20 mobile rush tickets will be made available for main stage productions in The Public’s downtown season at Astor Place.

Daily mobile rush tickets will be offered beginning with the second preview performance of each production’s run.
Mobile Rush Information
1. Mobile rush tickets will be available at 10am each performance day and remain available until the inventory is sold out or until 2 hours prior to the performance time.
2. You will be confirmed immediately when your purchase is completed by TodayTix.
3. Tickets may be picked up at the Taub Box Office beginning one hour prior to show time.

Mobile Rush Tickets are limited and only available via the TodayTix app. Rush tickets are not available in person at the box office.
Subject to availability and production
Student tickets are $30. Cash and credit cards are accepted for student ticket purchases.
Student tickets must be purchased in person at The Taub Box Office.
The student must be present with a valid student ID at the time of purchase
Limit two ticket per person.
Student tickets may not be available for all productions including Joe's Pub and special events.
Full-Price Cancellation List
On the day of a sold out performance, we may take a limited full-price cancellation list for tickets when the box office opens (2pm or 1 hour prior to the first show of the day if there is a matinee)
Names may only be added to the full-price cancellation list in person at The Taub Box Office window.
The full-price cancellation list will be called no earlier than 30 minutes before curtain.
If you are called and are not present, your name will be removed from the list.
Limit of two tickets per person.
Pick-Up & Late Seating
Patrons picking up tickets at the Taub Box Office will be asked to present identification. Please have your ID or credit card ready.
Late seating is solely at the discretion of management.
Ticketed seat locations are not guaranteed past curtain time.
Past Date Policy
If you were unable to use your tickets and did not exchange, you may be able to use them for a subsequent performance of the same show. Call us at 212.967.7555 on the day you wish to attend (or you may call the day before for a matinee). If we have space available we will issue a complimentary pass against your paid tickets.
Children under five are not admitted unless explicitly noted.

Scalping and Third Party Ticket Sales
As a reminder to all patrons - official tickets for The Public Theater, Joe’s Pub and Free Shakespeare in the Park performances are only available by purchasing/donating through our website at publictheater.org, at TodayTix.com and their app, by calling audience services at 212.967.7555 or by visiting our box offices. Please be wary of any other sites claiming to sell tickets to our events. We do not endorse third party sites and we cannot guarantee or verify the validity of any tickets purchased in this way. If entry into our venues is attempted with an illegitimate ticket or one obtained under fraudulent circumstance we will not honor it, even if money has been exchanged between yourself and a non-endorsed sales channel. The Public is not financially responsible for any monetary loss you incur.
The Public Theater is a non for profit organization that relies on the financial support of generous donors and ticket sales. Although we strongly discourage third party sales, it is legal in New York, but within the limits of the law:
- Ticket resellers must be licensed and bonded by the state.
- Regardless of licensure, one can’t resell tickets within 1500 feet of the venue.
- Regardless of licensure, one must issue a refund if the purchaser can’t go to the event through no fault of their own.
