Evening one of Nona Hendryx’s We the People celebrates the power of femme in all its forms, shades, and identities.  It’s a high-wattage forum for outspoken feminists, featuring performances from Flotilla DeBarge, Elizabeth and the Catapult, Divinity Roxx, Oxymorrons & Sarah Jaffe.  Arrive when doors open at 6, to hear a curated set of political songs and feminist anthems from DJ Bright Light Bright Light!

September 11:
Evening two of Nona Hendryx's We the People features Hendryx as her "digital citizen" alter ego, Will Calhoun (Living Colour), Hip Hop Poet Soulflower, Ambient Sound Design Artist Wen-na Tsao (N*7), DJ & Artist DollTr!ck (Claire Lim) + many more special guests! Explore ideas on “How To Dismantle a Presidency” through funky beats and rhythms that are bananas and Hip-Hop fueled, with seriously mind-bending words wrapped in beautifully disturbing ambient sounds.   

About Nona Hendryx:
Nona Hendryx, a celebrated vocalist, record producer, songwriter, musician, and author, was an original member of the trio Labelle, whose smash single “Lady Marmalade” is a timeless classic. Her solo singles “Transformation” and “Do What You Wanna Do” from the 80s are as well-known as her work as a back-up vocalist for a legendary acts including Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel.

This performance is presented as part of the Joe's Pub Vanguard Award and Residency.
