Singer-songwriter Julian Velard and comedian Brooke Van Poppelen are The Comfort Zone: a musical experience featuring songs that skewer relationships when they reach the all too familiar intersection of Netflix and chill. Hoping to create a new genre called “Faux-mance” the convincing, but not actually dating duo, sing their catchy, hilarious songs about smartphone addiction, food co-dependancy, bathroom anxiety, and frenzied brunch plans with the authenticity of a couple who has not had sex in a solid four months.Featuring Special Guests: Jordan Carlos and Lorelei Ramirez.
The Comfort Zone got its start in 2015 as a live, monthly show at Union Hall Brooklyn after comedian and secret singer-songwriter, Brooke Van Poppelen approached Julian, a singer-songwriter and secret comedian to see if there was potential for collaboration. Well out of their own respective lanes, the two perform comedic, crowd participation segments and dare to debut a brand new song every month which adds an air of excitement and hilarious potential for disaster each time. Past line-ups featured notable musical guests and comedians including Har Mar Superstar, Janeane Garofalo, Michelle Buteau, Jordan Carlos, and Dave Hill who all got in on the fun.
