Ismael Fernández was born in Seville, of Gypsy descent, and grew up performing in flamenco festivals throughout the world with his internationally renowned family, “La Familia Fernández”. Fernández has performed in the US at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. Fernández is partners with Flamenco dancer Sonia Olla. Together the two have created numerous shows and have worked with artists across the globe, including Flamenco artists such as Antonio Canales and Farruquito, pop artists including Madonna and Ricky Martin, and Jazz artists including the great Chano Dominguez. Now Fernández returns Joe’s Pub to present his new album, produced with Dominguez. In the Pub’s atmosphere of intimacy and innovation, he promises the audience un trato: intense emotion, soulful singing and rhythm that plays in your heart long after the show is over.
Fernández will be accompanied by Alexis Cuadrado (bass) and Zack O’Farrill (drums).
This concert is co-presented by Flamenco Festival NY and World Music Institute. Flamenco Festival NY is supported by the Government of Andalusia.
