Kim David Smith’s Morphium Kabarett

Joe's Pub

March 2

Doors at 11:30PM
Show at Midnight

Described by Broadway World as the "David Bowie of cabaret," "slyly subversive" by the Wall Street Journal, and labeled the "male Marlene Dietrich" by The New York Times, Australian Kim David Smith conjures the glitter, doom, and decadence of 1920’s Berlin with “Morphium Kabarett.”

Named for the sensual, Spoliansky-penned waltz (famously danced to by a nude Anita Berber), “Morphium Kabarett” is musically directed by Tracy Stark (“Superb, virtuosic pianist” - New York Post), and features the music of Friedrich Hollaender and Kurt Weill, mixed with Kylie Minogue, the Supremes, and myriad unexpected others, in a neo-Weimar cabaret fantasia.

Costumes by Miodrag Guberinic (Katy Perry, Madonna, Nicki Minaj).

This performance will be recorded for release as Kim's first live album ever!
