Opposites collide for an irreverent and uplifting gospel of laughter in a night of Shasta’s free-flowing emcee-style performance. With contagious energy and sexy southern charms, Shasta tackles naughty topics and pays sonic homage to the classic era of Hip-Hop, elevating the listener to new highs.
Ayesha Jordan & Charlotte Brathwaite
Director Charlotte Brathwaite and writer/performer Ayesha Jordan’s first creative endeavor was a performance project Charlotte created and performed in while studying at the Amsterdam School for the Arts in 2001. Fast forward to present day, we have the artists and designers creating this production who have been making art together for several years creating innovative live theater productions, music events and installations.
The collective of artists creating this production have been making art together for several years producing innovative theater, music events and installations in New York City and beyond. Director Charlotte Brathwaite and writer/actor Ayesha Jordan met back in 2001 and became friends while living and making art in the Netherlands. Fast forward to present day New York City, and the stars aligned for Charlotte and Ayesha to meet again and finally continue collaborating.
SHASTA GEAUX POP was presented at Under The Radar Incoming series 2017 and developed and presented with support from The Bushwick Starr 2016-17.
