Originally from Tokyo, New York-based composer Miho Hazama is a brilliant, award winning composer and arranger, able to draw on many different musical sources to create her own highly distinctive and original sound. The winner of the BMI Charlie Parker Composition Prize 2015, Hazama has released two albums on Sunnyside Records, which received universal praise from NPR, WBGO, JazzTimes etc. Since 2007, she has worked with Vince Mendoza, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Metropole Orkest, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra among many others over the world. For her first show as a bandleader at Joe’s Pub, she leads a dectet in new arrangements of Herbie Hancock’s landmark album Maiden Voyage.
