Join us for a joyous evening featuring a concert-reading of TJ Armand’s award-winning new musical Sama: An American Requiem.
Set during the Occupy Wall Street protests in 2011, this comedy drama focuses on a fictional pop star – the son of a Christian Lebanese family living in Massachusetts. Tariq becomes a household name in America under false pretenses and must choose between his allegiance to his family and maintaining his facade after the death of his gay twin Sama.
Sama: An American Requiem had a sold-out New York City concert debut at 54 Below on October 13, 2016 after winning a developmental residency from Williamsburg's National Sawdust - this was the first time the award was granted to a musical theater piece. Previous industry readings have featured many Broadway stars including Javier Munoz (Hamilton), Olga Merediz (In The Heights) along with Lorraine Serabian (Zorba).
Lead producer Carl Paiva and LLCP Casting is happy to announce that Tony Award nominee and Outer-Circle Critics Award recipient Lorraine Serabian (Zorba), along with Broadway stars Diana DiMarzio (Sweeney Todd), Rick Faugno (Jersey Boys) Sharone Sayegh (Mamma Mia!), and Nicole Powell (Hairspray) will be joining the cast for the concert reading at Joe's Pub. The show will also welcome back Marlain Angelides (A Midsummer Night’s Dream-Off Broadway) and Gilbert D. Sanchez (Showgirls-Off Broadway).
