Health & Safety Policy Update

We are excited to welcome you back to The Delacorte Theater for our 60th Anniversary Season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. We ask that you read and understand the following when accessing tickets.

  • Effective April 19, 2022, The Public requires proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination to enter The Delacorte and attend performances. This policy will continue until further notice.
  • Complete vaccination is fourteen days following a final dose of the Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, or Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
  • We will accept proof of vaccination via Excelsior Pass, the NYC Covid Safe Pass, a copy or photo of your CDC vaccination card, and/or a copy or photo of an official immunization record from outside the United States.
  • Face masks are encouraged, but not required while attending performances at The Delacorte.
  • Public Theater staff and artists are subject to a mandatory vaccination and booster policy.
  • All policies are subject to change at The Public’s sole discretion and without notice.
  • Those that do not abide by any health and safety protocols will be denied entry or removed from the facility.

  • A face mask is required for all attendees while watching a performance on Tuesday evening, Saturday afternoon, & Sunday afternoon performances.
  • A face mask is not required but strongly encouraged when attending performances on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday evenings.
  • All performances in Joe’s Pub do not require a face mask because food and drink are available throughout the show. A face mask is strongly encourage when not actively eating or drinking.

Stop AAPI Hate.

The deadly shootings that took place in Atlanta were a hate crime. They were not the product of “a bad day,” but a manifestation of generations of anti-Asian hatred, racism, and violence that have only escalated since the pandemic began, and that Asian Americans have suffered for far too long. 

Enough is enough.

We stand in solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, and condemn these acts in the strongest sense. This senseless violence is deeply rooted in anti-Asian racism and white supremacy. It is on all of us to question and understand the roles we play in perpetuating these harmful beliefs and actions and the roles we must play in breaking them down – to end the hate that continues to cause Asian Americans to live in constant fear and grief.

We know that being anti-racist includes acknowledging the AAPI experience, and we will continue to reach out to, listen to, and support our Asian American and Pacific Islander artists, staff, community members, and audience members who are hurting.
