The Public Theater fiercely condemns the increase in hate against Jewish and Muslim people rising here in New York. This hate and violence is abhorrent, and we stand firm in alliance with our Arab and Jewish colleagues, artists, and supporters as they have stood with us. The theater has a vital civic role in bringing people together. Our art form depends upon dialogue, and our purpose is to bridge divides between peoples by allowing full, free artistic expression to engage, teach, and heal. We believe that theater can provide a haven for people to witness and participate in creative expression that points the way to a more just and peaceful world.
