Composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, journalist and songwriter Leo Sidran arrives at Joe’s Pub with All Bets Are Off, a one-night-only concert celebrating a singular musical life, and his 50th birthday. Joined by Moses Patrou, Danny Fox, Rob Jost and special guests, Sidran looks both backward and forward with songs from across his catalog, new material from a forthcoming ninth solo album, and the kind of unexpected collaborations that have defined his career. Though better known abroad than in his own backyard - particularly in Europe, where Télérama praised him as “a singer who, like no other, combines carefree character and a finessed manner” - Sidran has produced Oscar- and Grammy-winning music, created the two-time Signal Award-winning podcast The Third Story with Leo Sidran, and become the voice of The Art of the Story on WBGO. All the while, he has quietly continued making solo records that JazzTimes called “smart, sharp, and sparklingly original.” Fifty years in, one thing is clear: all bets are off.
