Born and rooted in Panamá, Mai-Elka is a singer, songwriter, and cultural producer whose music moves like memory: deep, layered, and alive. Drawing from the ancestral rhythms of Afro-Panamanian tradition — the drum languages carried across the Atlantic and reimagined in the isthmus where two oceans meet . Her voice is something singular: warm and vast, capable of holding grief and joy in the same breath, and anchored in a spiritual gravity that cannot be rehearsed.

As an Afro-Latina artist, Mai-Elka embodies the full complexity of what it means to exist at the crossroads of Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean. Her work has placed Mai-Elka at the center of some of the most exciting projects in Black Latin American culture of her generation. She has collaborated with Grammy nominee Petrona Martínez and the legendary Magín Díaz of Colombia, and with Enerolisa Núñez of the Dominican Republic. Her artistry has reached global audiences through the acclaimed Topic Documentary Film Miss Panama and the Disney+ talk show Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts.
