For ten years, singer-songwriter Matt Butler has been carrying his guitar into jails and prisons across America. Out of hundreds of shows inside came Reckless Son (NPR's Morning Edition, SPIN's year-end list). Reentry asks the harder questions underneath it: what does forgiveness actually cost, who do we let return, and what is it like to be the one returning? Funny, brutal, and tender — part concert, part confession, part communal reckoning — it goes looking for the place where compassion runs out. Some come home. Some never will. And every one of us has needed, at least once, to be let back in.
