The New York-based experimental cellist and avant garde composer makes her Joe’s Pub debut with a thrilling evolution of her live set, in a performance that melds her boundary-defying compositions with elements of film noir, psychological thriller, and cabaret. Drawing from her early roots in theater and training in classical music, this performance spotlights striking new dimensions of her artistic explorations, forging deeper into her ever-expanding world.
“Frequently gorgeous, at times unsettling, and constantly in flux” (Pitchfork), MIZU explores themes of transformation and the infinite possibilities of self. Her works 4 | 2 | 3, Forest Scenes, and Distant Intervals received critical praise and attention from platforms such as The FADER, NOWNESS Asia, Bandcamp Daily, The New York Times, and New Sounds.
MIZU’s recent performances have seen her at various spaces and institutions across New York and beyond, including Performance Space New York, The Noguchi Museum, Tina Kim Gallery, and Fort Jay on Governors Island. International appearances have included performances at Rewire Festival and LEV Festival. Her music accompanied the Givenchy FW 2026 runway presentation in Paris.
