My Brightest Diamond returns to Joe's Pub to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her acclaimed debut album Bring Me the Workhorse. Released in 2006 on Asthmatic Kitty Records, the record introduced producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer/songwriter Shara Nova with a sound defined by her distinct vocal ability, string arrangements, and punk ethos. Sounds like Penderecki + PJ Harvey + Purcell + Peter Gabriel.
Receiving critical acclaim for its intricate arrangements and Nova’s hauntingly powerful vocals, Bring Me The Workhorse moves effortlessly between delicate guitar moments and sweeping orchestration, establishing My Brightest Diamond as one of the most distinctive voices to emerge from the mid-2000s indie-classical scene. Throughout the record, Nova transforms small, vivid images into deeply emotional storytelling, exploring themes of love, mortality, and fleeting beauty.
For this special anniversary performance, Nova revisits the album that first introduced audiences to the world of My Brightest Diamond.
