The 7-piece world music ensemble Pharaoh's Daughter, led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Basya Schechter, returns to Joe's Pub for a rare, electrifying performance to celebrate the release of their new album, Songs of Desire. This powerhouse of masterful musicians fills the room with synergistic sound, traveling effortlessly across continents and fusing Hasidic chant, Arabic rhythms, African grooves, and downtown New York improvisation. Songs of Desire is a deeply rooted and wildly alive sonic refuge inspired by the timeless poetry of the Song of Songs. Hailed by Rabbi Jericoh Vincent, as a "a luminous listen, overflowing with treasures," the album embraces paradox: sacred and sensual, structured and spontaneous, intimate and expansive. At its heart, this music "takes us back to where we must all begin: love and desire" (Rodger Kamenetz, Jew in the Lotus).

"Pharaoh’s Daughter sounds as if Pink Floyd, and PJ Harvey crossed paths in an Israeli cafe and took a road trip to South Africa joining up with radiohead in Morocco along the way.”
"Listening to Pharaoh's Daughter in the car yesterday with a Turkish friend, such a delight - the groove, the purity, the skill - so fresh and yet so familiar as the work of the heart always is"
