When Pooja Reddy's parents immigrated to America, they were not prepared for how the American South would rub off on her. The result: hunting, fishing, boating, and firearm licenses, and a childhood spent playing pretend as a country singer and youth pastor.
Told through stand-up comedy and original country music, Pooja Reddy is White Trash, is a wildly funny cabaret show about what happens when the American South gets its hands on a South Indian girl. At its heart, it is a love letter to the complex identities Southerners have, many of whom are immigrants and people of color.
Pooja Reddy is a Brooklyn-based comedian and writer raised in rural Kentucky with roots in Hyderabad, India and Pooja Reddy a career that began in the Obama White House a natural stepping stone to stand-up comedy. She co-hosts Kutti Gang, a New York Times and Time Out New York recommended comedy show, and hosts an Arts & Culture podcast for PBS' ALL ARTS. She is currently a member of The Public Theater's Joe's Pub Working Group and a 2026 recipient of The Public Theater's Brooklyn College Artist Residency. Her work has been featured in New York Magazine and the 2025 Emmy-nominated PBS special Voices Rising.
