Savannah Pope brings her cinematic, high-glam cabaret to Joe’s Pub on Pride Sunday with A Place for You, an immersive night of music, mischief, and communion just steps from the parade. Moving fluidly between stage and audience, Pope - part chanteuse, part instigator, part patron saint of the strange - blurs the line between concert and performance art, weaving original songs, sharp-witted repartee, and special guest appearances into a world that is at once camp, dangerous, and deeply sincere. A Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and visual artist known for her mind-bending vocals and baroque aesthetic, she has emerged as a singular voice in art rock and cinematic pop, from her acclaimed concept album Pandemonium (produced by Nine Inch Nails collaborator Sean Beavan) to a recent North American tour supporting Andy Bell. At its core, A Place for You is a love letter to outsiders - a lush, electric sanctuary where everyone is invited to come as they are and be seen.
Annette Bening and Muffinhead join as special guests!
Hollywood legend Annette Bening appears as a special guest, opening the evening with a host-style introduction - welcoming Savannah to the stage with a wink to classic cabaret. She will return for select moments of playful banter throughout the night, bringing her signature wit and glamour into the intimate, ever-evolving world of the show.
Muffinhead is an LA-born performance absurdist and visual mixed-media artist intent on bringing his otherworldly visions to life. Since relocating to New York City in 2005 the artist has had the pleasure of creating walking art installation pieces for the Jeffrey Deitch Art Parade and serves as a notable fixture in city art and nightlife. He has collaborated with Barneys New York on their 2016 Spring Ad Campaign, Bloomingdales, "The Fashion Underground" Exhibit at The Museum at FIT / Tampa Museum of Fine Art, and Adidas: Clubworld in Tokyo for Susanne Bartsch. Most recently, the artist was honored to display several costume pieces in the expansive exhibit "TRANSFORMATION" for Museum Gestaltung in Zurich.
