An afternoon of surprising sounds, beautiful songs and fantastic compositions, from a world traveling composer Sxip Shirey and his surprising guest artists. Shirey tests the edge of music using his vast imagination to create playful and mischievous songs using familiar objects, mutant instruments, electronics and reconfigured sounds. Shirey is a curious combination of composer-sound designer-performer meets storyteller-curator. Every Sxip’s hour of charm is an explosion of original ideas and energizing music that will have you out of your seat and dancing by the end of the show.
Featuring new songs by Sxip Shirey featuring marbles and bowl choir, bundt pan-bell set and celeste-electric piano and electronics, the haunting vocals of Aimee Curl and the sublime vocals Raquel Klein, the masterful drumming of Sean Dixon and trumpet of Andrew McGovern, with the gravity defying artistry of juggler/dancer Luther Bangert.
Special features of the baroque pop compositions of Lacy Rose, the deep cello and electronics of Brittany Harris, and Sxip Shirey’s Jank!/circus band featuring the wonderful Attis Clopton on drums and John Altieri on sousaphone.
Special appearance by producer/engineer Amon of The Bridge Studio.
