cryptochrome is a sonic odyssey across the animal kingdom that invites audiences to imagine themselves in the sensory worlds of other living things. Called “a gorgeous, trippy eco-cabaret” by The New Yorker and “a transporting opus” by The Brooklyn Rail, cryptochrome weaves words, worlds, science and song into a genre-defying multispecies fantasia for the theater of the imagination. Performed with Tristan Allen on piano.
Evan Silver aka Tiresias is a hybrid writer, director, composer, performer, songbird, mythmaker and ritualist. Called “a rara avis of experimental theatre” by The New Yorker and “one of the most enchanting performers in New York City” by The Brooklyn Rail, Tiresias creates ritual performance works that explore queer ecologies, weird mythologies, and speculative futures.
Development of this project took place at MacDowell and the cell theatre, and was made possible with support from The Puffin Foundation and The Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
