“Songs are sneaky things . . . I always believed that the right song at the right moment could change history.” - Pete Seeger
When Voices Rise is a showcase of original music featuring the winning songwriters in a nationwide contest drawing on the legacy of the protest music of the turbulent 60’s and 70’s in the US and Latin America. Chosen by a panel of industry professionals and activists this performance features the ten winning songs in styles ranging from folk and hip-hop to soul and son. Mexican multi-hyphenate musical theatre storyteller Jaime Lozano emcees this exciting evening of songs and shows music as a refuge for hope and resistance. Come witness this creative response to history in the making.
