Larry Krone and Family: What a Difference!

Larry Krone is an artist/entertainer who straddles the worlds of visual art, music, performance, and design. A proud member of the Joe’s Pub family, Larry performed frequently in the wildly popular Our Hit Parade and Grand Ole Pubry variety shows, has staged his own solo performances for the Joe’s Pub stage, and—as House of Larréon—continues to dress many of Joe’s Pub’s most sensational stars such as Bridget Everett, Neal Medlyn, and Jim Andralis.

What A Difference! is the fourth in a series of scripted “musical performances with talking and costumes” by Larry Krone on the theme of personal identity and chosen family. Preceded by Who or What I Am (Joe’s Pub,2018), Beyond Repair (RISD Museum, 2019), and Loving You is Easier (The 8th Floor/Rubin Foundation, 2022), What a Difference! is a brand new show that exudes the invigorating feeling of relief that comes from finding our true chosen families. In What a Difference! Larry Krone performs his original Country songs interspersed with related spoken banter and storytelling to take the audience through the dissolution of a traditional family on into the rebuilding of a new, healthier one based on love. What a difference to be in a family that feels so good!

If you have ever been to one of Larry Krone’s shows before, you know to come expecting an array of his trademarks: a parade of dazzling handmade House of Larréon costumes, tender stories, jokes of questionable quality and taste, songs to make you smile, and weepers that are bound to leave tracks in your foundation.

You can also expect some sensational SPECIAL GUEST STARS. Larry’s “& Family” for this performance includes his husband JIM ANDRALIS (Jim Andralis & the Syntonics, Grand Ole Pubry, Our Hit Parade, The Isotonors), JULIE DeLANO (Gold, Jim Andralis & the Syntonics, The Lounge Leader), Joe’s Pub darling, superstar of the world, plus star and producer of HBO’s Somebody Somewhere, BRIDGET EVERETT (Bridget Everett and the Tender Moments, Our Hit Parade, Somebody Somewhere, Patti Cake$, Inside Amy Schumer, Lady Dynamite), as well as an exciting array of surprise guests who are sure to delight!

Larry Krone is an artist/entertainer who straddles the worlds of art, music, performance, and design. Beginning in the New York art world of the late 90’s, Larry's home-spun costumed, staged musical shows were concept-based art performances that explored showmanship and masculine identity in country music. Now, Larry has a presence in New York's downtown scene as a singer, songwriter, performer, and costume designer as well as for his work as a fine artist. Larry has performed at The RISD Museum, The Whitney Museum, Joe’s Pub, PS 122 and countless bars, galleries, and nightclubs in New York and elsewhere. He can be heard on the albums of Jim Andralis, Clint Michigan, Bridget Everett and the Tender Moments, Champagne Jerry, and Stephin Merritt and appears in the independent film, The Purple Onion, singing his original song "It’s Hard to Live”. As a designer Larry is known for his fashion label House of Larréon, the exclusive couturier for Bridget Everett and designer of gowns, costumes, and sets for various performers and artists including Jim Andralis, Neal Medlyn, Adrienne Truscott, Kathleen Hanna, and Dawn Landes.
