Neal Medlyn returns to Joe's Pub, following up on Comeback Comeback, his sold-out Elvis show, with a new alternate history pop music extravaganza inspired by the band Nirvana. A project that traces its roots to Neal's very first performances back in 2000, The Comfort in Being Sad asks, "What if Nirvana had gone the route so many of their contemporaries and only been a moderately successful punk band? One that did some tours, broke some guitars, and then settled in to the complexity of real life? What kind of success is real success?" Featuring a great live band and an emphasis on the joy and freedom of punk music, The Comfort in Being Sad is a weird, touching, fun, and wild evening!
Featuring:
Casey Bartolucci as Buzz Osbourne
Brianna Lux as Nikki McClure
Jacob as Ian Dickson
Tom Beaujour (guitar)
Joan Chew (bass)
Carmine Covelli (drums)
