GRAMMY-nominated artist Priya Darshini returns to Joe's Pub with her series that features leading artists and composers from distinct musical backgrounds in a spirited performance driven by spontaneous interactions. This project seeks to highlight the beauty in diversity, collaboration, and the value of shared experience and community.
Special guests include:
Zach Brock - violins
Currency Audio - percussion
Max ZT - hammered dulcimer
CURRENCY is an improvisational performance project exploring jungle, IDM, UK garage, dubstep and their various offshoots. The brainchild of percussionist and producer Rajeev Maddela, CURRENCY aims to navigate these genres via Ableton Live, Max/MSP and MIDI percussion triggers.
Zach Brock is an American jazz violinist and composer. He has been a member of Snarky Puppy since 2007 and has worked with Stanley Clarke, Phil Markowitz, and Dave Liebman, as well as leading his own groups.
Lauded as the “Jimi Hendrix of the Hammered Dulcimer,” Max ZT is an innovator of the instrument. Rooted in the American folk tradition, Max spent years studying in both Senegal and India. His unique perspective provides a backbone to beautiful compositions, while his unorthodox playing style has revolutionized dulcimer techniques.
