JPWG Open Call 2024

“Being an independent performing artist comes with a lot of responsibilities and needs beyond purely making art. This program is a way for us to address and decipher those things for artists in a space that is accessible and inclusive.” - Alex Knowlton, Director of Joe's Pub.

JOE'S PUB WORKING GROUP (JPWG) aims to enrich the sustainability and growth of New York-based emerging and established artists’ careers by providing administrative resources, physical space and curatorial services, further cultivating a community atmosphere wherein those artists can create and sustain new and developing work.

The program was conceived to address the rapidly shifting state of the performing arts and help artists at a critical point in their careers.

This application is open to all artists who have performed at Joe's Pub, including those who have played as part of an ensemble or band.

The tenure of the next JPWG cohort will begin in September 2024 and will continue through August 2025.

Each member of the JPWG will receive:
-A stipend of $2,500
-An all expenses paid, week-long residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm
-Access to experts in a variety of fields (past examples include crowdfunding, accounting, and branding)
-Mentoring and other (tangible) resources from the Joe's Pub staff
-A complimentary Public Theater membership
-Inclusion in a regularly-convening roundtable of JPWG member artists and alumni
-Complimentary artist photos/head shots
-For JPWG members who plan to perform at Joe's Pub, we offer complimentary high quality photography and multi-camera video capture of their performance(s) during their year of membership
-A complimentary pair of tickets to any Joe's Pub show (pending availability)

JPWG program alumni include Becca Blackwell, Celisse, Isaac Oliver, Jaime Lozano, Samora Pinderhughes, Shaina Taub, and many more!

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, June 2 at 11:59PM EST!
