Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron's Fun Home comes back to life for one-night-only with a primarily autistic cast! The hit musical, which premiered at the Public Theater in 2013, tracks neurodivergent artist Alison Bechdel's journey of self-discovery from childhood as she comes to terms with her identity as a lesbian, as well as complicated family dynamics, particularly her relationship with her closeted father.
This special concert production, which employs autistic artists both on and off the stage, expands Fun Home's message of self-acceptance to include the tapestry of neurodiversity. Casting will be announced in the new year.
The Autistic Theatremakers Alliance is a non-profit that seeks to reduce stigma and increase inclusion of autistic persons in all aspects of theatremaking by providing support, encouraging conversations among stakeholders, educating theatremakers about including autistic persons, and providing financial grants for training for autistic persons wanting to learn about theatre.
