Four-time Grammy winner and slack key guitar master George Kahumoku Jr is joined by award-winners Sonny Lim on slide steel guitar and Herb Ohta Jr on ‘ukulele, among the most popular featured artists at George’s long-running Slack Key Show on Maui. They draw from a uniquely Hawaiian musical mix that converged in the islands -- ‘ukulele introduced by Portuguese immigrants, guitar brought by Mexican vaqueros, and slide steel, invented in Hawai‘i. From traditional roots that go back to the down-home tunings of Hawai’i’s cowboys to virtuosic ‘ukulele and steel to original songs and Hawaiian classics, they create a captivating evening of music, culture, and stories.
