CENTURIES is a new folk opera follows a family in the suburbs of Ohio over two generations, told entirely through innovative choral music. Moving between the years 2022 and 1985, Centuries plays with time and memory, grappling with how a family’s past informs its present and what the next generation is left to parse through.
Kate Douglas, Matthew Dean Marsh, and Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez are songwriters who have been collaborating since 2017. Individually, their work has been performed as venues such as Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center, the Public Theater, the Met Cloisters, MoMA PS1 and many others.
