Senavazi means "trio" in Persian. The ensemble features a kamancheh/Vocal, davul (dohol), and saxophone, with an electric bass guest. The group performs original compositions of Mehrnam Rastegari as well as traditional Persian, Kurdish, Balkan, and Turkish pieces, blending these musical styles into a unique performance.
About Artistic Freedom Initiative
Artistic Freedom Initiative (AFI) is a Brooklyn-based nonprofit founded by human rights and immigration attorneys. Their mission is to provide pro bono legal, resettlement, and advocacy support for international artists who have experienced restrictions on their free expression. Further, AFI supports international artists whose work preserves cultural art forms and intangible cultural heritage.

About SHIM:NYC
AFI co-leads the Safe Haven Incubator for Musicians: NYC (SHIM:NYC), a residency program for musicians in AFI's network. Each musician in residence receives tailored professional development and network building opportunities, provided by partners Tamizdat and Joe's Pub at the Public Theater.
