Get ready for an explosive night of virtuosity and fun vibes. Somewhere between The Late Show w/Colbert, Leonard Bernstein’s Harvard Music lectures and David Byrne’s American Utopia, Michael Thurber & Friends is a musical variety show that features artists from different cultural/musical backgrounds. Hosted and curated by Thurber, a bassist and songwriter, the show flows seamlessly from guest to guest, hopping through centuries of musical styles - Hiphop to Baroque, Carnatic to Spoken Word, Bluegrass to Jazz and everything in between. With a spirit of joy and togetherness at its core, the show is equal parts educational and entertaining.
Past guests have included band leader of The Late Show w/Stephen Colbert, Louis Cato, Tony-Nominee Daniel J. Watts, Grammy-nominated classical violinist Tessa Lark, carnatic violinist Arun Ramamurthy, poet Arya Shahi and many others.
