What's On
In 2023 Neal Medlyn got a day job as a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Now he’s made a cabaret show out of work songs by artists from the Dead Kennedys to Larry Krone to Bachman-Turner Overdrive. He’s bringing some of his colleagues to guard his all-new performance at Joe's Pub about strange questions, crowds and the beautiful mélange of people who you don’t notice and the jobs we sometimes pretend we don’t need.
One of “New York City’s Top Ten Downtown Cabaret Performers,” “he keeps weirdness alive.” - Time Out New York
“creatively restless and often unclothed performance artist Neal Medlyn, increasingly known to the world as the lascivious rapper Champagne Jerry." and “Say what you will about contemporary New York, but in other cities, one does not flourish as a performance artist rapper dressed in Prince's discarded bondage gear.” - Village Voice
"Medlyn deals in theatrical miracles. He transforms the stuff of our celebrity- obsessed, media-saturated world into impossibly beautiful, absurdist happenings....He's amazing." – WNYC, All Things Considered
