Health & Safety Policy Update

We are excited to welcome you back to The Delacorte Theater for our 60th Anniversary Season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. We ask that you read and understand the following when accessing tickets.

  • Effective April 19, 2022, The Public requires proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination to enter The Delacorte and attend performances. This policy will continue until further notice.
  • Complete vaccination is fourteen days following a final dose of the Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, or Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
  • We will accept proof of vaccination via Excelsior Pass, the NYC Covid Safe Pass, a copy or photo of your CDC vaccination card, and/or a copy or photo of an official immunization record from outside the United States.
  • Face masks are encouraged, but not required while attending performances at The Delacorte.
  • Public Theater staff and artists are subject to a mandatory vaccination and booster policy.
  • All policies are subject to change at The Public’s sole discretion and without notice.
  • Those that do not abide by any health and safety protocols will be denied entry or removed from the facility.

  • All performances in Joe’s Pub do not require a face mask because food and drink are available throughout the show. A face mask is strongly encourage when not actively eating or drinking.

As nativism spreads and borders close, does the power of cultural diplomacy still have an impact around the world? In association with The Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics at Georgetown University, Public Forum will discuss the theater of politics and the politics of theater in a changing international landscape with former head of Asia Society Vishakha Desai, playwright David Henry Hwang (Soft Power at The Public Theater this fall), Harvard University political scientist Joseph S. Nye, Jr. (author of Soft Power: The Means to Success in World Politics), and former United States Ambassador to the Netherlands Cynthia Schneider with music by Zeb Bangash.
