Health & Safety Policy Update

We are excited to welcome you back to The Delacorte Theater for our 60th Anniversary Season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. We ask that you read and understand the following when accessing tickets.

  • Effective April 19, 2022, The Public requires proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination to enter The Delacorte and attend performances. This policy will continue until further notice.
  • Complete vaccination is fourteen days following a final dose of the Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, or Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
  • We will accept proof of vaccination via Excelsior Pass, the NYC Covid Safe Pass, a copy or photo of your CDC vaccination card, and/or a copy or photo of an official immunization record from outside the United States.
  • Face masks are encouraged, but not required while attending performances at The Delacorte.
  • Public Theater staff and artists are subject to a mandatory vaccination and booster policy.
  • All policies are subject to change at The Public’s sole discretion and without notice.
  • Those that do not abide by any health and safety protocols will be denied entry or removed from the facility.

FRANCOIS & THE REBELS, A Punk Rock Ritual, is a high-energy punk rock ritual performance, honoring the history of the 1791-1804 Haitian Revolution. Led by an all-black cast of incredible artists and musicians, this often-overlooked part of world history comes to life. With Immersive storytelling and musical community as our access, over a decade of colonial uprising is filtered through a modern lens: the styles and sounds of the Punk music scene—from New Wave, Alt Punk, Emo Pop music scene. Discover how a colony divided by race, color, and class was the perfect stage to birth a rebel movement so powerful and leaders so diverse they would rock the foundation of the world as we knew it. Declaring independence from France and creating the first black-led republic in the western hemisphere: the kingdom of Haiti, eventually becoming the catalyst that would bring about the end of transatlantic slavery.

Jaime Cepero

Jaime Cepero (they/he) is an Afro-Latino, queer, non-binary actor, writer, and award-winning activist. As a composer, their musical Francois & The Rebels (a punk rock telling of the 1791 Haitian Revolution) was showcased in The Musicals Of Tomorrow for Broadway Podcast Network, the Joe’s Pub: In Concert series, the 4x15 Workshop series at MTFmusicals, and New York Theater Barn’s Choreography Lab at Baryshnikov Arts Center. Cepero was a 2021 Write It Out! playwriting cohort with National Queer Theater, and a two-time Gold Anthem Award recipient for their work in community organizing and political activism. TV/film performance credits include “Smash” (NBC), “Connecting…” (NBC), “Mess” (HereTV/Amazon), Daddy, Dating My Mother, Jess, I Am Michael, and The Game Plan.
