Health & Safety Policy Update

We are excited to welcome you back to The Delacorte Theater for our 60th Anniversary Season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. We ask that you read and understand the following when accessing tickets.

  • Effective April 19, 2022, The Public requires proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination to enter The Delacorte and attend performances. This policy will continue until further notice.
  • Complete vaccination is fourteen days following a final dose of the Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, or Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
  • We will accept proof of vaccination via Excelsior Pass, the NYC Covid Safe Pass, a copy or photo of your CDC vaccination card, and/or a copy or photo of an official immunization record from outside the United States.
  • Face masks are encouraged, but not required while attending performances at The Delacorte.
  • Public Theater staff and artists are subject to a mandatory vaccination and booster policy.
  • All policies are subject to change at The Public’s sole discretion and without notice.
  • Those that do not abide by any health and safety protocols will be denied entry or removed from the facility.

We are excited to welcome you to our flagship home at Astor Place. We are continually adapting health and safety protocols in line with recommendations from the CDC, the WHO, and city, state, and federal guidelines. Learn more below about the adjustments to protocols at The Public,  effective Monday, September 12, 2022.

We no longer require proof of vaccination to access the facility, theaters, and restaurant.

A face mask is required for all attendees in the facility and while watching a performance at all Tuesday evening and Saturday and Sunday matinees for:

  • BALDWIN & BUCKLEY AT CAMBRIDGE
  • WHERE WE BELONG

A face mask is strongly encouraged when attending performances on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday evenings for:

  • WHERE WE BELONG

PLAYS FOR A PLAGUE YEAR will not have masked required performances available due to the production being staged in Joe's Pub, where food and drink will be available for purchase throughout the performance.

Joe's Pub, a program of the Public Theater, is an independent, non-profit music venue, dedicated to supporting performing artists at every stage of their careers.

We play a vital role in fulfilling the Public's mission to serve audiences and artists alike, as an active member of New York City's creative community. Every evening, we pair vibrant culture with genuine hospitality. 

Joe's Pub is supported in part by an American Rescue Plan Act grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support general operating expenses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
