Health & Safety Policy Update

We are excited to welcome you back to The Delacorte Theater for our 60th Anniversary Season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. We ask that you read and understand the following when accessing tickets.

  • Effective April 19, 2022, The Public requires proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination to enter The Delacorte and attend performances. This policy will continue until further notice.
  • Complete vaccination is fourteen days following a final dose of the Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, or Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
  • We will accept proof of vaccination via Excelsior Pass, the NYC Covid Safe Pass, a copy or photo of your CDC vaccination card, and/or a copy or photo of an official immunization record from outside the United States.
  • Face masks are encouraged, but not required while attending performances at The Delacorte.
  • Public Theater staff and artists are subject to a mandatory vaccination and booster policy.
  • All policies are subject to change at The Public’s sole discretion and without notice.
  • Those that do not abide by any health and safety protocols will be denied entry or removed from the facility.

  • All performances in Joe’s Pub do not require a face mask because food and drink are available throughout the show. A face mask is strongly encourage when not actively eating or drinking.

Event Guidelines

In order to provide a safe environment at the gala, proof of vaccination will be required for entry into the event. Those who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical exemptions or sincerely held religious beliefs may present a negative PCR (within 72 hours of event) or rapid antigen test result (within 6 hours of event). We will also provide rapid testing on-site. Face masks are encouraged while at The Delacorte, but not required.

On May 24, we celebrated a one night only evening of celebration under the stars led by Emcee Liev Schreiber, featuring performances and special appearances from your favorite Public Theater artists. The evening consisted of a cocktail reception with a set by DJ Rich Medina as well as live music by Jina Brass Band. Following, there was a seated dinner with performances throughout. It was an unforgettable evening!

Their leadership leaves lasting impact on their community, The Public Theater, and the city of New York.

The Public is thrilled to present the second annual Community Leadership Award to Jamie Maleszka, Director of Creative Arts at The Fortune Society, in recognition of her extraordinary collaboration with The Public and in celebration of her efforts in community artmaking.
