Seriously Entertaining is House of SpeakEasy's acclaimed series where writers such as Roz Chast, John McWhorter, Sarah Ruhl, Salman Rushdie, and more take the stage to riff and ruminate informally, dinner-theater-style, on the evening’s theme. The Wall Street Journal calls it “Think-y entertainment for New York’s book-loving crowd,” The New York Times says it’s “a literary mixtape [with] perfect flow and variety."
Upcoming Show:
January 14: This Time Tomorrow
House of SpeakEasy kicks off its 2025 season at Joe's Pub with a performance by four celebrated writers, each of whom will share a brand-new story inspired by the theme “This Time Tomorrow.”
This month’s featured storytellers include Jordyn Taylor, former magazine editor and the award-winning author of The Paper Girl of Paris; playwright and performer Todd Almond, star of Broadway’s Girl From the North Country and Gossip Girl on MAX; Astead W. Herndon, national politics reporter for the New York Times, campaign reporter for Kamala Harris in 2019, and host of the NYT politics podcast “The Run-Up;” and Nora Lange, whose novel Us Fools is a Los Angeles Times best seller, a New York Times Editors' Choice, and longlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award in Fiction.
