Seriously Entertaining is House of SpeakEasy's acclaimed series where writers such as Roz Chast, John McWhorter, Sarah Ruhl, Salman Rushdie, and more take the stage to riff and ruminate informally, dinner-theater-style, on the evening’s theme. The Wall Street Journal calls it “Think-y entertainment for New York’s book-loving crowd,” The New York Times says it’s “a literary mixtape [with] perfect flow and variety."

House of SpeakEasy's October 22nd show delves into the unknown, the scary, the powerful, and the personal as these four writers teach us to "Be Not Afraid." Join us to hear stories from Exceptional Merit in Media Award-winning journalist and author of The Movement Clara Bingham; Gina Chung, winner of the Pushcart Prize and author of the story collection Green Frog, which was a Good Morning America Buzz Pick; professor of American Studies and author of American Scary: A History of Horror, from Salem to Stephen King and Beyond Jeremy Dauber; and educator, DJ, founder of the Brooklyn Poetry Slam, and author of the innovative new memoir Skip Tracer Jive Poetic.
