DAF Day 2026 | Oct 8

DAF Day aims to shine a light on Donor-Advised Funds, how they get used, and to be a catalyst for a single day of unprecedented generosity with donor-advised fund (DAF)gifts!

Make a meaningful impact on The Public  with a one-time or scheduled gift of any amount on Thursday, October 8. Our goal is to inspire 50 donors to give on DAF Day!

Tax ID & IRS Guidelines

Our legal name is the “New York Shakespeare Festival”; we are d/b/a The Public Theater and our tax identification number (EIN) is 13-1844852.

Please note, according to IRS guidelines and DAF sponsors' rules, donations from DAFs cannot be used to pay—neither partially or wholly—for fundraising events/tickets/tables, or memberships if they include goods or benefits that aren’t fully tax-deductible. Our Messina Supporter Plus membership, all Partner and Producer's Circle membership levels, and Young Partner membership at the Young Leader level and above are not fully tax-deductible. However, if you decline all goods and benefits, you can use a DAF donation for payment.

DAF Pay

Simply search for and select your DAF sponsor and you will be able to complete the grant recommendation process directly through the DAFpay tool without needing to leave our website.

If you would like to make a gift to The Public through a DAF sponsor not found on DAFpay, please ask for your contact information to be included for proper acknowledgment, make checks payable to “The Public Theater,” and mail to the following address:

Attn: Development
The Public Theater
425 Lafayette Street
New York, NY 10003

Feel free to contact [email protected] if you have any questions or to inform us of your gift.

DAFs power The Public’s work on our stages, behind the scenes, and beyond.

Between growing the Fund for Free Theater to support Free Shakespeare in the Park and our civic artistic programs: Mobile Unit and Public, to our most robust Astor Place season since the pandemic, your support is needed now more than ever.
