House of SpeakEasy: Seriously Entertaining

House of SpeakEasy: Seriously Entertaining

May 14 - June 4, 2024

Seriously Entertaining is House of SpeakEasy's acclaimed series of literary cabarets where authors take the stage to riff and ruminate informally, dinner-theater-style, on the evening’s theme. The Wall Street Journal calls it “Think-y entertainment for New York’s book-loving crowd,” The New York Times says it’s “a literary mixtape [with] perfect flow and variety,” and CBS Local News adds: “You have never seen a cabaret quite like this…. The lineup includes some of the most brilliant minds in the literary and artistic worlds.”

June 4 - Looking for the Exit

The final show of the spring season has us doing anything but “Looking for the Exit” as these fantastic writers take our stage. Join us on June 4th to hear stories from Chloe Caldwell, author of Women, the cult classic novella that Cosmopolitan UK calls one of the “Best Erotic Novels of All Time;” Jay Ellis, NAACP Award-winning actor from HBO’s “Insecure” and author of the forthcoming memoir Did Everyone Have an Imaginary Friend (or Just Me)?; Garrett M. Graff, former Politico editor, director of the cyber initiative at the Aspen Institute, and author of When the Sea Came Alive; and Eric Klinenberg director of the Institute for Public Knowledge at NYU, coauthor of the #1 New York Times bestseller Modern Romance, and author of, most recently, 2020: One City, Seven People, and the Year Everything Changed.
