Many employers and foundations generously sponsor matching gift programs for their employees’ philanthropic interests. These companies may be willing to double or even triple the value of charitable gifts made by employees, retirees and/or their spouses.
You can increase your impact by making use of your company’s matching gift program. In these instances, you will be recognized for the full amount of your gift plus any employer match.
Did you know that the new COVID-19 Relief Bill includes an incentive for charitable donations?
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”), which was signed into law on March 27, 2020, allows those who do not itemize their taxes to deduct up to $300 for charitable contributions (donor-advised funds are not eligible); removes the cap on charitable deductions for those who itemize, raising it from 60% of adjusted gross income to 100%; and for corporations, raises the annual limit from 10% to 25%. Your gift to The Public Theater at this time may provide you with additional tax advantages. Please consult your own tax advisor.
To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please enter your employer's name in the search box. Please note, when filling out any forms for matching gifts with your company, our organization’s official name is the New York Shakespeare Festival (d/b/a The Public Theater).
