Ruth Moody

May 25, 2024

Ruth Moody's new album, Wanderer, will be out on May 17 via True North Records. The album was produced by Moody and Dan Knobler (Allison Russell, Lake Street Dive) at Nashville’s renowned Sound Emporium studio and it was mixed by Tucker Martine (Madison Cunningham, First Aid Kit). The result is a collection of ten deeply powerful and personal songs that reflect Moody’s inner world and wanderings all propelled by her ethereal, clear soprano. Wanderer explores the emotional journey of motherhood, the joy and pain of life, the mysterious and complicated dance of love, and ultimately the longing we all feel for home, wherever that might be.

Moody is a founding and current member of Billboard-charting and JUNO-award winning folk trio, The Wailin’ Jennys, known for their gorgeous 3-part harmonies and transcendent live performances. Between the Jennys, covid and motherhood, it's been over a decade since her last solo release, These Wilder Things, a stunningly beautiful album featuring Mark Knopfler, who subsequently brought Moody to support him on his European tours.

Moody will be touring as a trio with Nashville musicians Sam Howard (Molly Tuttle, Joy Williams), on upright bass and Anthony da Costa (Molly Tuttle, Sarah Jarosz, Steve Potlz) on guitar.
