Civic Salon: CULTURE SHIFT

CIVIC SALON: CULTURE SHIFT

November 17, 2019

Civic Salon: CULTURE SHIFT
Featuring Rachel Chavkin, poetry by Yura Sapi, and music by Jillian Walker

Grace Lee Boggs once said we must “transform [ourselves] to transform the world.” While the work of dismantling systems of oppression can feel insurmountable, it often manifests in our daily actions and choices. For our November Civic Salon, Public Forum is thrilled to welcome Tony Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812; Hadestown) as she discusses her process as a creative leader, and the practical steps she takes to address larger systemic problems in her artistic community and the world at large.

Join Public Forum for our free monthly gatherings where we come together in the spirit of community to nurture our minds and our bodies. Each month will feature a different theme driven by artists, musicians, poets, activists, and civic organizers who are using their voices to create change in their communities. Break bread with your neighbor, raise your voice in song, and leave inspired. Joe’s Pub will offer a full brunch menu available for purchase.
