The launch of Pierce Turner’s new album, Terrible Good, a guitar oriented album made with crack guitarist Gerry Leonard, who played and co-wrote with the amazing David Bowie in recent years. The full line-up of that band will perform with Gerry on guitar, Tony Shanahan on bass (Patti Smith), and Yuval Lion on drums (David Byrne). This is the coolest Irish experience one could ever have on St. Patrick’s Day.
The award-winning Irish musician Pierce Turner is a dynamic live performer and consummate musician, who was voted Ireland’s solo artist of the year in 1994. He has worked on numerous occasions with Philip Glass, including his debut album, for which Mr. Glass wrote string arrangements and produced. When he performed at Carnegie Hall with headliner Iggy Pop and Patty Smith in 2015, The New York Times and Rolling Stone enthusiastically described it as, “Soaring” and “a cross between Joni Mitchell and David Bowie.”
“A hidden gem” - New York Magazine
“Clambering across tables little shimmies and clattering a smashing ashtray to the ground to the screams of adoration, Turner breaks sown the barrier between audience and performer and really gives himself in a way that makes him naked” – The Irish Times
