Flo Ankah & Third Set

Flo Ankah & Third Set

July 18, 2023

Travel in time to mid-century France for a Bastille Day celebration full of romance, in the waning light of a summer night.

Backed by her ensemble of jazz improvisers, Flo Ankah invigorates vintage tunes, adding a rhythmic twist to the classics. Known for her unique interpretations of Edith Piaf's songbook, Flo combines existential French spirit with irreverent American humor from her adopted land.

Among the musical surprises will be songs ranging from Django Reinhardt to Michel Legrand with several obscure French gems. Flo will also pay homage to Piaf by performing some of the songs she wrote or performed and recounting the fables associated with the iconoclastic legend.

Experience a night in Paris, in the company of the gamine and her musical muses:

Flo Ankah, vox
Gary Versace, piano
Jay Sawyer, drums
Dominic Duval, bass

Flo Ankah is a New York stage actress and vocalist from France. Since her first solo appearance at Joe's Pub in 2012, Flo has appeared with her band at Symphony Space, Feinstein’s/54 Below, the Miami-Dade Auditorium, the Philadelphia Museum, MoMA, Bryant Park and at Sleep No More/McKittrick Hotel. A graduate of the Atlantic Theater Conservatory, Flo, who grew up on a farm in France before setting off on her own at 17, has appeared in and voiced major motion pictures ("Listen Up Philip" as Jonathan Pryce’s girlfriend, "Stillwater", and "Magic in the Moonlight"), and has trained and performed as a comedian and improviser, including with the Upright Citizens Brigade.
