Sharon Katz & The Peace Train
Album Release Concert Party
Take everything you love about South African rhythms and choirs; mix in some Latin magic; add a dose of Philly jazz; tackle issues of love, loss, and adversity; and you get the latest album from global activists Sharon Katz & The Peace Train. Put on your dancing shoes, come out for this exclusive performance in the New York area, and wish them well in the consideration for the 2023 Grammy’s Global Music Album and Social Change Song of the Year.
The South African band of Sharon Katz & The Peace Train helped Nelson Mandela end Apartheid and made history in 1992 when they formed South Africa’s first, 500-voice multiracial choir and band. Then they organized a courageous tour aboard a train –The Peace Train – amid the civil war to promote a peaceful transition to democracy. When CNN filmed Sharon jumping out of a helicopter with her guitar to teach rural people about the voting process through song, Sharon Katz & The Peace Train were propelled into an international career that has spanned three continents and coast-to-coast USA appearances.
The new album, For You, was recorded in South Africa, Mexico, and USA. Autographed copies will be exclusively available at the concert.
