Health & Safety Policy Update

We are excited to welcome you back to The Delacorte Theater for our 60th Anniversary Season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. We ask that you read and understand the following when accessing tickets.

  • Effective April 19, 2022, The Public requires proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination to enter The Delacorte and attend performances. This policy will continue until further notice.
  • Complete vaccination is fourteen days following a final dose of the Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, or Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
  • We will accept proof of vaccination via Excelsior Pass, the NYC Covid Safe Pass, a copy or photo of your CDC vaccination card, and/or a copy or photo of an official immunization record from outside the United States.
  • Face masks are encouraged, but not required while attending performances at The Delacorte.
  • Public Theater staff and artists are subject to a mandatory vaccination and booster policy.
  • All policies are subject to change at The Public’s sole discretion and without notice.
  • Those that do not abide by any health and safety protocols will be denied entry or removed from the facility.

  • All performances in Joe’s Pub do not require a face mask because food and drink are available throughout the show. A face mask is strongly encourage when not actively eating or drinking.

12-1:30PM: Gather around the stage for PUBLIC THEATER GREATEST HITS. See Public Theater alumni perform some of the most memorable songs from iconic Public Theater musicals including HAMILTON, HAIR, FUN HOME, HELL'S KITCHEN, SUFFS, HERCULES, A CHORUS LINE, and more! Featured performers include Nikki M. James (SUFFS), Rebecca Naomi Jones  (FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, Public Works' AS YOU LIKE IT), Jelani Alladin (Public Works' adaptation of Disney's HERCULES), Gianna Harris (HELL'S KITCHEN), Hawley Gould & Monica Tulia Ramirez (SUFFS), Gregory Treco (HAMILTON), members of the 2008 cast of HAIR, and more!

2-3PM: Get ready to dance! In preparation for Public Works' Let's Hear It for New York! An Unforgettable Dance Experience, come on down and join us in a dance workshop to learn the choreography to the Broadway Cast Recording of Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind" by four-time Tony-nominated director/choreographer Camille A. Brown. Learn the dance in advance so you're ready to join your neighbors at the Public Pops Up event on Monday, August 12 at Frisbee Hill in Central Park to dance to this iconic song. 3-4PM: Round out the day with a performance from Block Party headliner OLIVIA K & THE PARKERS.

There will also be free family-friendly activities indoors and outdoors like corn hole, face painting, balloon animals, and more. When you pick up a Public Theater Bingo Card from the GO PUBLIC! tent outside on Astor Place or from the front desk at The Public, and reach bingo in any direction, you'll receive a Public Theater branded item for free! If you've been craving a burger from The Library, you don't even need to go inside. Grab a burger from The Library's satellite station on the North side of The Public just before the entrance. If you'd prefer a sit-down meal, head inside to the restaurant.
